an r&b and hip-hop head, an alternative/grunge and punk lover, a beavis & butthead (and daria) addict, a tommy hil and nautica consumer, a huge advocate of handball and public nyc parks, a rocker of a black bugaboo columbia jacket, a drinker of the finest st. ides special brew and liquors around all by 14, a super nintendo gamer nerd, a misfits addict, a graphic designer, a web designer, a super-sneaker-out-of-the-houser, a great kisser, a roamer of queens in general, a bay terrace mallrat, a thief kleptomaniac, a greenwich village dweller, a make-out slut, a smoker of pot, an adopted latina, a stoop dweller, a total hard ass, a pin cushion (i’ve had like, 11 piercings), a mosher, a friend of vampires, an MTV offices regular, a raver, a lover of anything with synth in it, a mild drug user (e), a cam girl, a blogger, a saucony’s/vans girl, an awesome girlfriend to few, a frequent MTA rider, a south-bronx dweller, a ska-loving skanker, a chick magnet, a  bouncing souls show regular, a high school graduate, a video store clerk/manager, a jackass addict, an ikea addict, a tony hawk pro skater pro, an aimless whitestone stroller, a myspace fan, a graffiti lover, a sparks drinker, a roommate, a loner, a restaurant manager, a toughlover<3, a pet owner, a traveler, a glassjaw addict, a camper, a wifey, a guest list dweller, a mistress, a canvas for a few tattoo artists, a full-time website developer, someone with multi-colour hair, a brooklyn resident, a ranger fan (again<3), a tweeter, and most importantly a (self-destructively/overly loyal) good friend… etc.

which leaves me feeling like i love how all over the place i’ve been, good and bad.
i’ve also been realizing as i get older that NYC is really fucking tiny. and the older i get, the closer the social circles are linked.
(this has been proven many times in the last year…)

since i was a little kid (and i’m sure before i was), every year next to the LIE, lefrak city has put up huge seasons greetings/happy holidays signs and brought up long strands of lights from the bottom of their sign to the top floor of between the buildings to make the shape of a triangle for christmas trees (i guess/assume?) and this year they put up this LED nonsense. a RED “snowflake” (looks more like a starburst?) in the middle and a bunch of straight line lights as tall as the snowflake on both sides of it.  and it’s only on the awning of the building…

i flickr searched and googled the shit out of lefrak city/xmas lights and i couldn’t find any great pictures of what they used to display, just this one:

at any rate, it’s a queens/nyc tradition that’s been broken… kinda sucky lefrak!

so i was passing by with my mom today and we got to even more talking about lefrak city.  since my mother grew up in forest hills, i assumed she’d had friends that lived there or something over the years… turns out i was right.

when they were built, they were for “middle-class/working” families, but my mother said they were more like luxury apartments.  she confirmed that she was in and out of there a lot, and she also told me that my aunt carol had an apartment up in there back when those apartments were actually still “classy”.

when mom was a teenager/twenty-something she was big into disco (oy vey, ma…) and hung out at a lot of spots in forest hills.  she said one night she was at some club or discotheque called “the menagerie” and was hanging out with some dude and she and her girlfriends all ended up going back to his house (haha #giggity but no, no, no…) and his dad was some big time radio DJ from back then.   she said his apartment was gorgeous, couldn’t remember his name, though…

she also told me at one point when she was working in the management offices there in the 70′s (when it started falling to shit because of the newer-classes of residents), that she would get mail to the office that had dead rats/roaches and water bugs in it because the buildings management  weren’t exterminating them.  how gross!

the entire idea of why that community was built seems so cool… too bad it’s gone to shit.

this would make me move back there in a heartbeat…

i was thinking of trying to make it a nyc thing, but i caught myself thinking too big – i guess starting off in queens/maybe bk is a better idea… anyways, i was thinking out details and it could get a little crazy so i’ve gotta sort them out. i want to have teams with uniforms/names (well i mean i was thinking uniformed groups like in the warriors, not like baseball uniforms?) and play til there’s one big game for a prize or something… gotta have incentive to light a fire under people asses i suppose…

i’m going to build a website with voting polls for different things and a contact form to start gathering information for games in the fall… if i can’t get enough info, maybe it’ll be for the spring…

i haven’t seen craig since back then, and then he went off and moved to maryland… so glad that i caught him this trip up… our west coast days were mighty fun. super excited!

i just can’t remember the last time all of us have been together. seems like aside from the weather, this is gonna be a good saturday. woo!

although i've been complaining and dread my commute every morning, i'm so glad to be here. at this point, i was itching to leave my apartment. i am going to miss it, it was such a nice place, my room/closet were so big (ugh) but i felt so weird being there last month. not even going to get into it, i just can't believe it ended up where it did... can't believe wehe lost touch. whatever. lesson learned, moving along.

all i’ve unpacked (and plan on unpacking) was my clothing. i setup my tv and my computer. that’s it… keeping everything altogether so the next move in a month is easy as pie.

it feels really good to be back here, but strange too. i guess it won’t feel good until i start seeing my friends, i’m sure then i’ll feel back at home… temporarily.

crap, i already miss jen&&&jess sleepovers.
can’t wait til ridgewood sleepovers!

i kinda feel lost since i’m all packed up. i’m pms’ing and everything has been bothering me… oh the joys of being a woman… i can’t wait until november. new apartment, autumn in FULL effect, glassjaw, thanksgiving (hopefully upstate)… i dunno… hopefully all good things. type, delete. le sigh.

all i wanted to do was come home and watch “the rules of attraction” but the damn dvd is packed away. i should still give a peek, since the bin isn’t closed where all of my movies are… i think i’m going to end up going sleep sooner than i think though.

tuesday i’m moving back to mom’s house…
whatever. i feel so blah about it, but at least i have a home to go back to. and if i get this place, it’ll only be for a month.

i can’t wait until all of this is over.

NEED STABILITY, stat.

wow, the reality just set in and the sadness just built up thinking about how good it was sometimes.

another chapter closed, a new one is opening and i’m scared.
things are going well, but i’m scared.

• get coffee
• wax my eyebrows
• go to martha’s bakery for black forest cupcakes
• see mom (which i’ll be doing a lot of soon anyway)
• see george

but what will actually happen?

it’s currently 1:09 PM. it’s still KIND OF early… i could make all these dreams come true. the only solid plans here are the coffee and george. if i get my ass up to go to queens RIGHT NOW, i could be there by 3 the latest. eat, get coffee, jump on the F to the 7 to main street to get to the Q14 to get into whitestone… wax the eyebrows, stroll around, go visit mom, go up to bell (erica won’t be there, boo that.) to martha’s bakery for the cupcakes OR find george and drag him to austin street to the other martha’s, since it’s kinda near his area, then dinner and a sleepover??? (PLAN?!)

see, isn’t that easy? sounds like a plan!

what i SHOULD be doing is bringing my shit home. i packed mostly everything. just have to get some heavy duty laundry bags for my jackets and pants… but i’m not going to pester george to help with his hand being injured. i think i’m going to have to take off monday to do this. that way i’ll have jen to help and steve can drive the truck. i need functioning man hands.
